You're invited to the biggest community event of the school year! 🌟 Join us at The Rubin on April 25 for a Starlight Soirée and help us raise vital funds for the school that immediately and directly impact our students.

Corlears is a small school, but our community has a big heart — and many ways to get involved.

Every dollar has a lasting impact — not just on  students attending Corlears today, but on all children who come through our doors.

There are a variety of opportunities available for current and alumni community members to get involved by volunteering their time.

THE ROAD TO OUR FIRST ENDOWMENT

Through the Tuition Equity Fund, we strive to cultivate inclusion and belonging for all community members for generations to come. Your support of the TEF brings to life our vision of a vibrant and connected community like no other in New York City.

Kids Art Activity: How to Make Recycled Robots and Animals

You can find inspiration for art anywhere – including your recycling bin! If you’re looking for a fun art activity for your kids, try this creative project that uses cardboard, bottles, egg cartons, and whatever you have on hand to craft one-of-a-kind creatures. This is a Corlears Connected home-learning favorite recommended by our Studio Art Teacher, Christine.

Materials

  • Recycled materials:  cardboard, milk containers, plastic bottles, egg cartons, toilet paper rolls, bottle caps, etc.

  • Glue or tape

  • Scissors

  • Paint or tissue paper

Directions

“Design and create a robot using recycled materials! Think about what this robot could be used for. How could it help you during this time? If it is helpful to you, sketch out your ideas first and then find the objects that you need to complete your vision. Get creative and have fun!” – Christine

Use the below cardboard attachment patterns to help you with your project:
